Canon Launches Compact HD Camcorder
Canon announced its HR10 high definition camcorder that features a 10x optical zoom lens and a CMOS image sensor capable of recording at 1920 x 1080 HD resolution.
- A relatively compact camcorder, the HR10 also includes a 3.1-mega-pixel sensor for capturing still shots.
- The HR10 allows you to extract still images from videos you've recorded, which can then be stored on a miniSD card.
- Canon has made use of the Advanced Video Codec High Definition (AVCHD) technology that enables it to record on to 3-inch DVD disks, which can be played on AVCHD compatible DVD players or most Blu-ray players.
- The video camera also includes three fully programmable zooming speeds to help ensure steady footage.
- The HR10 also includes a 24p Cine Mode feature, which produces a "film-look" by changing the camera's frame rate to 24p—the same frame rate used when shooting movies. According to the company, users can edit the color and tone of a scene to resemble films seen in theaters.
- The HR10 comes with a 2.7-inch LCD screen with an anti-glare coating, which according to the company, can be seen from up to 135 degrees at any angle.
